ORCHARD PARK, N.Y.-Sweet Home has won six straight Section 6 Class A championships. They are regular visitors to Ralph Wilson Stadium. Williamsville North is making its first trip ever to the stadium.
Sweet Home is 9-0 this season while North brings a record of 6-3 into Friday’s game.
Last week legendary Panthers coach John Faller reached 200 wins in his career. Faller told Two On Your Side’s Stu Boyar “They surprised me with a game ball afterward and I was happy for the kids who won the game. It brought back a lot of memories to get there.” Faller credited his coaching staff for getting the Panthers back to the championship game this season. “when you have to put seven new players on both sides of the ball on your team you’re hoping to get better each week. To culminate by getting here to the stadium that was a big plus so we’re very happy that we did that work and I give my coaches the accolades for doing that. “
Faller and his Panthers are focused on the Spartans this weekend. Its the first time the Spartans are playing at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Running back Derrick Isler told Stu “its exciting. We worked may years together and its about time our hard work has finally paid off so we’re excited to be here.”
Sweet Home has won 69 straight games against Section 6 opponents. North head coach Mike Mammoliti said that Sweet Home has “athleticism and I don’t think that’s anything different than they’ve had for a long time. They’re very athletic, they’re very efficient in what they do and it will be a challenge.”
Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 Friday night. You can see the game via live stream here on wny.highschoolsports.net with Jonah Javad handling the play by play and Dick Gallagher handling the color commentary.
