ORCHARD PARK, N.Y.-Unbeaten Jamestown plays Frontier Saturday night for the Section 6 Class AA championship at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
The Red Raiders lost to Orchard Park in the championship game last year. Frontier is making its first trip to Ralph Wilson Stadium since 1984.
Frontier head coach Tim Myslinski told Two On Your Side’s Stu Boyar “a young lad came up to me and gave me a huge hug. She said go get ’em and I didn’t know her from Adam. And she said the community is behind you.” Frontier is a five minute drive to the stadium but its Jamestown that’s been more at home at the Stadium recently than the Falcons.
Red Raiders senior quarterback Jake Sisson told Stu “we set goals at the beginning of the season and this is one of our goals to be back at the Ralph playing here. We want to win this year.”
Last year Jamestown lost to Orchard Park 35-30. The last time Frontier played at the stadium, they beat Jamestown in a low scoring game 6-3. That seems unlikely has no one has been able to contain Jamestown’s offense all season. Most consider Sisson the leading contender for the Connolly Cup given annually to Western New York’s most outstanding football player.
Frontier senior A.J. Licata told Stu that Jamestown “has a quarterback over there that can throw the ball and we’re going to look to stop that. They also have a great running back over there (Da’Quon Hollingsworth) who hurt us last year that we’re going to look to focus on just stopping them is going to be big.” Jamestown averages 55 points per game. Frontier has allowed just 86 points in nine games. The teams did not play in the regular season.
