Class D-Randolph vs. Maple Grove

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y.-It almost seems like an annual event. Maple Grove and Randolph will play in the Section 6 Class D championship game Friday evening at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Last year Randolph beat Maple Grove 21-0 in the championship game so it is a rematch of that game. Randolph won the regular season game 35-7 this year.

Randolph comes into the game unbeaten at 9-0 while Maple Grove is 7-1. At Ralph Wilson Stadium Randolph is 8-5 while Maple Grove is 5-9.

Randolph is riding a 19 game winning streak. They are the defending state champions. Long time coach Pat Slater retired after winning the championship last year and Brent Brown has stepped in and the Cardinals haven’t missed a beat.

Coach Brown told Two On Your Side’s Stu Boyar “this week its not hard to get the boys going in practice. Its intense and we get a good week of practice. You know if you win this week you move on and every week after that its going to be that way so its fun.”

Kickoff is scheduled for 6-pm Friday evening at Ralph Wilson Stadium. You watch the game via live stream here on www.wny.highschoolsports.net with Jonah Javad handling the play by play and Dick Gallagher the color commentary.
