Clewiston rallies past Immokalee

Immokalee’s defense mostly ruled Friday night at Clewiston.

Unfortunately for the Indians, scores by the Tigers early and late did them in.

Jarvirus Bradford scored on a 1-yard run with 1:34 remaining as Clewiston squeaked out a 13-12 non-district win at Cane Field.

Derry West led the Tigers with 92 years rushing and scored the Tigers’ first touchdown in the first quarter.

Louis Nelson Selian rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns for Immokalee.

“It was a real war from start to finish,” said Clewiston coach Pete Walker. “Everyone made mistakes and penalties tonight, but we got better in the second half. We made some good plays when we had to. Our defense also stepped it up.”

Immokalee played without senior defensive back J.C. Jackson, a Florida commit who will sit out the next game as well, and junior offensive tackle Wesley Docsol. Indians coach Rich Dombroski suspended the two Indians for violating unspecified team rules.

“I’m hoping this is a clear message that nobody’s above the rules of our football program,” Dombroski said. “We have to act right, not only on the football field but in the classroom.”
