Hunterdon Central 4, Sparta 0: John Icaza and Jeremy Ake hit RBI singles in the third inning while in the seventh Brett McManus hit an RBI double and Ake again hit an RBI single as Hunterdon Central advanced to the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex final. Billy Maier fired a four-hit shutout to get the win for the Red Devils.

Vernon 3, North Hunterdon 1 (8 inn): A two-out error led to two Vernon runs in the top of the eighth inning as North Hunterdon (12-9) fell in the Hunterdon/Warren/sussex semifinals. The Lions scored an unearned run in the third inning to tie the game.

Montgomery 7, Hillsborough 0: Chris Bumstead fired a three-hit complete game shut out to lead Montgomery while D.J. Nozza hit a three-run homer in the third inning. Rob Foti singled for Hillsborough in the first.

Gill St. Bernard’s 3, South Hunterdon 1: Sophomore RHP Rob Berman (4-0) pitched a complete game three-hitter with six strikeouts to help the Knights improve to 12-11. Singles by Matt Amoroso and Danny Sivolella and a sacrifice fly from Dan Spear highlighted a three run fifth inning for Gill.

Pingry 10, North Plainfield 8: Kyle Walker hit a two-run double for Pingry, which staged a comeback after surrendring seven runs in the first inning. Kyle Grant collected two hits, including a triple, and scored a run for North Plainfield.

Piscataway 8, North Brunswick 7: Jordan Scott’s two-out, two-run double in the home eighth lifted the No. 15 seed Chiefs in the GMC Tournament first round. Piscataway erased a 6-2 deficit. Adam Tricarico went 4-for-4 with a walk, double, homer, two RBI, stolen base and four runs scored. Piscataway teammate Michael Campbell went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Scott finished with four RBI and two hits. Harrison Kaye went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI for the Raiders (9-12), while teammate Michael Pfeiffer doubled twice, had two RBI and scored a run. Piscataway (7-14), which was swept in a regular-season series by Edison last week, will meet the No. 2 seed Eagles in the next round.

Rutgers Prep 7, Pennington 6: Anthony Brocato went 4-for-4 with a double, triple, 3 RBI and a run scored, Paul Nemergut hit a two-run double, and Matt Von Roemer was 2-for-3 with a run scored to lead Rutgers Prep. Jared Sapirman went five innings, picking up his first varisty win for the Argonauts.

Manville 12, Piscataway Tech 2 (6 inn): Winning pitcher Anthony Zuhone went the distance and allowed two runs on four hits while striking out 11. Zuhone helped his cause with a triple and three runs for Manville (3-13). Alex Egatz collected an RBI single for Piscataway Tech (0-18).
