Senior right-hander Billy Maier went the distance, surrendering just one hit and striking out a pair as the Hunterdon Central High School baseball team blanked Skyland Conference Delaware Division rival Hillsborough, 4-0, on Thursday afternoon in Hillsborough.
Central scored one run in each of the second, third, fourth and fifth innings. In the third, the Red Devils (4-5) scored on an RBI double by senior center fielder Geggie Russomagno, plating junior first baseman Mike Pfenninger.
Ryan Kellerman was credited with the only hit for Hillsborough (5-6).
Bridgewater-Raritan 12, Phillipsburg 4: Alex Thul went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored to power the Panthers (6-3). Josh Jankowski went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Mike Fair collected two doubles and two RBI for Bridgewater-Raritan.
Immaculata 4, North Hunterdon 2: The bottom of the order came through for Immaculata (6-2), going 6-for-11 and driving in three runs. Micah Harris went 3-for-3 with a double, RBI single and a run scored. Julian Delgado collected a pair of doubles, one RBI and a run scored, while Rafael Tous supplied an RBI double. Brandon Wagner hit a solo homerun in the first inning to get the Spartans on the board. Andrew Meiners led the way for North Hunterdon (6-4) going 2-for-3 with a double.
Ridge 3, Franklin 2: Joey Vindici went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Zach Bontempi went 1-for-2 with two RBI to lead Ridge (7-2) to a comeback victory. Andrew Hartjen drove in the other run for the Red Devils. Franklin (1-6) took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI double by Juan Romano.
Bernards 12, Bound Brook 2 (5 inn): Konner Schneider went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored and Jon Iaione went 2-for-3 with three RBI to send Bernards (9-0). Danny McDonnell surrendered two hits while striking out four for the Mountaineers. Henry Kabus reached base three times and drove in one run for Bound Brook (3-5).
Somerville 7, Warren Hills 5: The Pioneers (6-2) rallied once more — this time in Washington. Somerville rallied for five runs in the seventh inning, then held off the Blue Streaks. Eric Ciresa went 3-for-3 for the Ville with a double, RBI and a run scored and center fielder Brandon Sheh had a double and scored two runs. Warren Hills is 2-6.
A.L. Johnson 11, New Providence 3: Michael Felezzola finished 2-for-4 with an RBI double and teammate Alan Payne finished 2-for-3 for New Providence (4-6).
Voorhees 6, Delaware Valley 3: Josh Hausler went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and Nick Marini belted a two-run double to power Voorhees (2-5). Dan Barone and Andrew Haspel drove in one run each for the Vikings. Ryan Hann went 2-for-3 with two RBI for Delware Valley (3-6).
Cranford 13, Governor Livingston 3 (5 inn): Barron Natelli supplied the only highlight for Governor Livingston (5-3), belting a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning.
Bloomfield Tech 6, Somerset Tech 4: Bloomfield Tech scored one in the fourth and four in the fifth to foil Somerset Tech (4-2). Mike Remeta belted a three-run triple and Tom Bucek scored a pair of runs for the Jaguars.
