Evan Brown recorded a hat trick while Pablo Benegas finished with a goal and two assists to lead the Somerville High School boys soccer team to a 6-4 win over Middlesex on Monday.
The Pioneers improved to 2-0 with the win, while Joe Korom led Middlesex (0-1) with two goals.
Pingry 4, Brunswick (CT) 1: Sean Carver recorded two goals and an assist, Matt Mangini added a goal and an assist, and Chris Lucciola also added a goal to lead Pingry to victory. Charlie Moore-Gillan made four saves in net for the Big Blue.
Rutgers Prep 4, Hudson Catholic 1: Sophomore Ezer Browne netted a hat trick and Zachary Perez added a goal on a penalty kick along with an assist to lead Rutgers Prep (2-0).
South Plainfield 2, Timothy Christian 0: Italo Cardoso scored off a corner kick in the 42nd minute and Jose Guardado scored at the 60th minute on a shot from the 12 to lift South Plainfield (1-0). Evan Waldron made 15 saves in goal for Timothy Christian (0-1) while Kyle Dennis collected four for the Tigers.
Sayreville 1, Governor Livingston 0: Sophomore Fernando Maldonado scored the deciding goal in the 48th minute off an assist from Lucas Pereira to lift Sayreville (1-1). Connor Drabik recorded four saves for the Bombers while Governor Livingston keeper Jake Topor made eight saves.
Carteret 3, Wardlaw-Hartridge 1: Francisco Gonzalez paced Carteret (1-1) with two goals while Matthew Nader scored in the second half for Wardlaw-Hartridge (0-1).
