Freshman shortstop Kennedy Whitehead delivered a two-RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning Friday afternoon as the Gill St. Bernard’s School softball team rallied for a 5-4 victory over Hun.
The Knights (11-6) trailed 4-2 headed into the bottom of the sixth when Emma Corbett scored on a wild pitch to set up Whitehead.
Eliza Brookman went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run in the victory.
Governor Livingston 11, Union 1 (5 inn): Steph Bade delivered a double, triple two RBI and scored two runs while Kacie Worswick collected three hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs to send No. 11-seeded Governor Livingston (10-6) into Friday night’s Union County Tournament Friday quarterfinals.
Sparta 1, Hunterdon Central 0: Gretchen Brown’s fourth-inning RBI produced the game’s lone run as 3A seed Hunterdon Central bowed out to the 2B seed. The Red Devils (7-8) managed just four hits.
North Hunterdon 11, Roxbury 4: Isabella Many went 4-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored and Mason Spichiger finished 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored to send North Hunterdon (13-6). Taylor Knoble was 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored while Kristen Cheeseman finished 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored for the Lions. Winning pitcher Jen Inamota (3-0) scattered seven hits over three earned runs, walked one and struck out five. North scored four runs in third and three in fourth to open up and 8-1 lead.
Pingry 6, Rahway 5: Freshman sensation Katie Marino was tagged for nine hits but only three earned runs and she struck out 14 for Pingry (12-2). Marino helped her cause with two hits and two RBI at the plate, while Hayley Advokat, Alyssa Baum and Natalie Gilbert collected two hits apiece for the Big Blue.
Somerset Tech 13, North 13th Street Tech 3: Kaycie Sconda went 3-for-5 with a triple, run scored and three RBI and Giannie Cintron finished 3-for-5 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBI to spark the Somerset Tech (8-4) offense. Anna Krisak, Stephanie Gonzalez, Yesha Parekh, Victoria Shahinian and Ariel Conner clubbed two hits apiece and combined for eight runs scored and five RBI for the Runnin’ Jags. Conner struck out seven and picked up the victory in her varsity debut.
Wardlaw-Hartridge 15, Woodbridge Academy 0 (3 inn): Ali Yamakaitis went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI and Caroline McNamara finished 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored to ignite Wardlaw-Hartridge. The Rams (15-0) put a 12-spot on the board in the second inning and pounded out 19 hits. Yamakaitis improved to 15 by striking out nine.
Westfield 9, Mahwah 4: Cali Chambliss finished 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs scored and two RBI to pace Westfield (12-3). Chrissy Ferraro went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored and Julia Criscuolo was 3-for-4 with a run scored for the Blue Devils.
Perth Amboy Tech 21, Plainfield 5: The Cardinals took a 5-4 lead after one inning. Chizoma Chima delivered a double and three RBI while Ariel Brown belted a double with two RBI for Plainfield (3-6).
Middlesex 21, New Brunswick 1 (3 inn): Salina Pellios accounted for five hits and five RBI, Michelle Wisniewski delivered three hits and five RBI, Jessica Rider turned in four hits and four RBI and Jessica Kennick finished with three hits and four RBI to fuel a powerful offensive surge by the Blue Jays. Katie Lauria pitched a four-inning one-hitter with four strikeouts for Middlesex (5-7). New Brunswick is 0-15.
South Amboy 12, Timothy Christian 2 (5 inn): Cheyenne Moskal went 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scores while Amy Riley finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored to power South Amboy (10-5). Alexis Wojtowicz, Emily Trzeciak and Cristina Reyes all struck a pair of singles for the Governors. Timothy Christian is 8-7.
South Hunterdon 11, Manville 2: Sopmore Katilyn Ferri went 2-for-3 with a double for Manville (0-13).
Roselle Park 2, Bound Brook 1: Tiffany Hunter stymied the Bound Brook hitters, allowing just a run and two hits in a complete-game effort. The Crusaders are 9-9.
