Cocoa High football player Tarean Folston said Wednesday he intends to sign with Notre Dame on national signing day in February.
Folston recently completed his final season with the Tigers football team, and he is currently practicing to play in the Under Armour All-America football game in St. Petersburg on Friday. He is listed as an athlete on the roster for the Black team.
Commitments are non-binding. Players are free to sign with any school of their choosing on national signing day, annually the first Wednesday in February.
Folston was last season’s FLORIDA TODAY Offensive Player of the Year.
The senior rushed for 1,186 yards and 13 touchdowns while catching eight passes for 85 more yards and another score for Cocoa’s 2012 state semifinal team. He also played defensive back — with four interceptions and a touchdown — and punted for the team.
Notre Dame will play Alabama for the BCS championship on Monday in Miami Gardens.
