A pair of Seton Catholic Central seniors have made known their collegiate destinations: Michael Korchak will play baseball at Bucknell University and Jordan Wilson will play lacrosse at Niagara U.
Wilson, a second-team all-star in Section 4 Division II as a junior, will join a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference program that last season posted a 5-11 record.
Korchak last spring was named Class C state Player of the Year after leading the Saints to the state championship. He pitched to a 6-0 record with a spotless ERA, striking out 72 in 362⁄3 innings. That season she batted .448 with 13 extra-base hits and 20 RBIs.
Also making known their collegiate intentions:
Binghamton: Katie Gaudet will play lacrosse for Binghamton University, which is coming off a two-win season.
Johnson City: Nick Neferis, the Wildcats’ No. 2 all-time goal scorer with 164, will join the lacrosse program at Seton Hill University (Greensburg, Pa.).
Newark Valley: Derek Holcomb and Trevor Hoffmier will join the University at Buffalo wrestling program. Both were Section 4 Division I champions as juniors — Hoffmier at 145 pounds and Holcomb at 160.
Owego: Jill Silvanic, a .400 hitter each of the last two seasons, will join the softball program at St. Peter’s. She has played varsity softball since seventh grade, and is also a three-season basketball starter.
