Jared Fleischmann poured in 28 points and the Marshfield Columbus boys basketball team held off a fourth-quarter rally by Loyal for a 62-61 victory in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division contest Tuesday night.

The Dons led 42-38 after three quarters only to have the Greyhounds force the game to come down to the wore.

Alex Larson added 15 points for Columbus, while Loyal was paced by Mason Froeba and Logan Fulwiler with 22 and 16 points, respectively.

Augusta 62, Spencer 40

AUGUSTA – Jeremiah Cattanach and Bobby Pilz scored eight points apiece, but the Rockets were unable to overcome the Beavers’ 1-2 punch of Joe Whalen and Jaime Sieg in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division loss.

Whalen finished with a game-high 24 points, while Sieg added 19 for Augusta, which jumped out to a 22-13 lead after one quarter an then pulled away in the second half.

“We had a good game all the way through. We pulled away in the third quarter and finished it off in the fourth,” Augusta coach Paul Henrichs said.

PITTSVILLE – Brad Wesely scored 18 points, and Trail Pierce and Sawyer Ladick both added 11 points as the Panthers won the Marawood Conference South Division match.

Greg Belter, Travis Urlaub and Andrew Marcis all scored nine points for the Tigers.
