The Grand Ledge Gymnastics team has been working very hard and walked into the East Lansing High School Invitational with high hopes of doing well.

They took first place at the invitational meet on Saturday, Jan. 5 with Haslett/Williamston/Bath in second. The other teams were Adrian, Mason, Jackson Lumen Christi, St. Johns, and Vassar.

There were excellent tumbling and routines by all teams. Grand Ledge took places 1st-4th on Vault and Bars, and 1st and 2nd on Beam and Floor, and topped off the day with the top four All Around placements.

Presley Allison had a great day taking first place on Beam with the highest score in the meet and first place All Around. Sara Peltier placed 1st on both Vault with and Bars, and took second place All Around.

Lauren Clark placed 1st on the Floor Exercise and 3rd place All Around. Helping to lock in win was freshman Rachel Hogan with 2nd place on Vault and an All Around 4th placement.

Other Grand Ledge team members were Taylor Stevens, Maddie Loftus, Lexi Payne, and Mary Vanhoesen. Taylor supported the team on Saturday with routines on Vault, Bars, and Beam. Freshman Lexi Payne competed for Grand Ledge the first time on Vault, Beam and Floor. Maddie Loftus is a new freshman on the team and she had great routines on Bars and Floor.

Grand Ledge has started where they left off last March at the State Championship. This was the 76th straight win for Grand Ledge.

Coach Duane Haring was very impressed by his new freshmen on the team. “They did a great job and are going to be a great help to the team,” he said.

Haslett High School will be hosting a gymnastics invitational this Saturday, Jan. 12 at 10 am.
