Annually Mullen’s Runners Roost Invite attracts some of the best track and field athletes in the state.
This year, some of the best track and field athletes in the country took center stage.
Silver Creek’s Valarie Allman is the top ranked girls high school discus thrower in the nation. She dominated at the Runners Roost invite with a winning throw of over 179 feet. Nobody even came close.
The girls 1600 M run featured two of the nation’s best in Cherry Creek’s Jordyn Colter and Niwot’s Elise Cranny. Cranny recently won the national New Balance Indoor Mile with a time of 4:40. At the time it was the fastest girls high school mile in the country.
Both Colter and Cranny came in under five minutes at Mullen on Saturday but Cranny won with a time of 4:53.13.
