CWC soccer: Zonnefeld sets school record in win over Omro

By

Cody Zonnefeld set a new school record, scoring his 27th goal of the season as the fifth-ranked Central Wisconsin Christian boys soccer team clinched at last a share of its second straight Flyway Conference title with a 6-0 drubbing of Omro Thursday night on the road.

The win moved CWC to 15-3-1 overall and 9-0 in the Flyway.

Zonnefeld’s goal broke the old Crusaders’ mark of 26 goals in a season set in 1994 by Mark Fischer.

Luke Jansen and Lucas Vander Berg added two goals each in the win while Jared Regnerus had a goal and two assists.

“I thought we were very sharp offensively and had some very consistent and creative attacks, but was disappointed with our defensive play,” Crusaders coach Greg Zonnefeld said. “We need to tighten things up as we play Waupun Monday and go for a second-straight undefeated Flyway title.”
