D1 soccer: Late Sheboygan North goal ends Fondy's season

By

(1) Sheboygan North 1, (4) Fond du Lac 0: The Cardinals gave the top-seeded Golden Raiders all they could handle, but a goal from Calian Schrader with 3 minutes and 36 seconds remaining was the difference-maker and ended Fondy’s season in the regional final.

Schrader got a ball on the right side of Fondy’s goal box, dribbled across and past the Cardinal defenders and put a 6-yard shot in the upper corner of the net.

“Our first half we played exceptional,” Fondy coach Greg Winkler said. “They put a lot of pressure on us in the second half. We had a couple good chances we didn’t finish. I can’t fault anything we did tonight. Our kids played their heart out.”

Fond du Lac…0 0 — 0

Sheboygan South…0 1 — 1

Second half: SS: Calian Schrader (unassisted), 77:28.

Saves: Fond du Lac (Ian Tess-Wanat) 11, Sheboygan South 6.
