MENOMONIE – Caroline Hehir finished with 137 assists and Shay Sullivan paced the hitting attack with 55 kills to help the D.C. Everest volleyball team capture the Silver Division championship at the University of Wisconsin-Stout Sprawl on Friday and Saturday.
Regan Stefan helped out with 35 kills throughout the seven matches, while Hallie Locher keyed the defense with 99 digs and Kaylie Kohel contributed 14 blocks.
D.C. Everest went unbeaten on the final day of action, including a 25-21, 25-21 triumph over Eau Claire Memorial in the championship match of the division. The Evergreens reached the finals with wins over Rice Lake (25-16) and Turtle Lake (26-24, 26-24).
The Evergreens split four matches on the opening day of the tournament, picking up wins over St. Croix Falls and Ellsworth in straight sets, while dropping contests against Chippewa Falls and Cameron in three games.
CHIPPEWA FALLS – Mariah Whalen had 50 kills, and Shaefer Rupar added 32 kills and 38 digs as the Cardinals tied Regis and Aquinas for first place in the tournament
The Cardinals downed McDonell, Pacelli, Columbus, Assumption and fell to Regis.
Abbey Fox had 122 assists and eight aces.
