The Astronaut War Eagles defeated the St. Cloud Bulldogs 34-6 on a rainy night at Jay Donnelly Field.
The War Eagles used big plays on defense to pull away with the decisive victory. Bailey Deese intercepted two consecutive Hunter Weismore passes in the fourth quarter, returning one for a touchdown to put the game away. Fumbled snaps were the theme of the night for both teams as the weather wreaked havoc on the centers and quarterbacks. The War Eagles scored on a 1-yard drive later in the fourth, following a fumbled exchange.
St. Cloud entered the contest on a long scoreless streak and continued that trend all the way to halftime. A seemingly different Bulldog offense came out after the break and marched 80 yards to pull within a score of the War Eagles. But that was the only time they seriously threatened Astronaut all evening.
