There wasn’t a lot of offense in Tuesday’s WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal softball game between Ripon and Nekoosa.
But the Tigers got enough to pull out the win.
Cait Dolata collected a key two-run single to back Libby Borgardt’s one-hitter as Ripon notched a 3-0 win over the Papermakers.
Ripon advances to Thursday’s regional final contest against Adams-Friendship which will be played at Murray Park in Ripon at 4:45 p.m.
The Tigers may need more than the two hits they collected on Tuesday but it was enough to beat Nekoosa.
Ripon took the lead in the first, scoring a run on a passed ball and then added some insurance in the fourth.
Shae Mederow and Anna Sparks led off the inning with walks and were advanced with a bunt. After Nekoosa got the second out of the inning, Dolata delivered a two-out, two run single and Ripon kept the cushion intact.
Borgardt fanned 11 and walked only two in the victory and after pitching out of a first and third jam in the first never allowed Nekoosa a scoring opportunity.
