Dontavis Bruce did a little bit of everything for Olive Branch, Miss., in the Conquistadors' opener with Ridgeway (Memphis) on Friday. The junior slot receiver set a school record with 378 all-purpose yards, including 157 yards rushing, 117 yards receiving and 104 yards on returns in a 38-22 victory. He also scored two late game-clinching touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving.
"He's a playmaker," said Olive Branch coach Scott Samel. "He's a 4.4 guy (in the 40-yard dash) and he does a lot, whether he's running the ball, catching it or returning."
While Bruce hasn't said which college he intends to sign with, he's being pursued by Memphis and Mississippi, Samsel said.
