Coming off a big victory against previously unbeaten Moravia, the Dryden boys’ basketball team made it two consecutive wins Thursday night with an 83-50 rout of Southern Cayuga in Interscholastic Athletic Conference North play.
The Purple Lions (8-4 overall, 2-2 Large North) had five players in double-figures, led by Gage Ellis, who had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Shawn Moore added 16 points, Bryant Stuttle had 13 and Bryan Norman and Ali Abel-Ferretti added 11 apiece.
Vince Stebbins led the Chiefs (5-7, 2-3 Small North) with 13 points, while Tom Miller chipped in 10.
The Purple Lions raced to a 24-12 lead after one quarter and kept up the pace in the second, taking a 45-22 halftime lead.
Dryden is off until Friday, when it hosts Marathon, while the Chiefs travel around the lake to face Trumansburg on Friday.
* Newark Valley 51, Spencer-Van Etten 33: Marley Norton scored 15 points and Ashley Kassapian added 10 as the Cardinals (2-10) pulled away for an 18-point IAC South victory.
Taylor Rider led the Panthers (2-8) with 11 points while Lisa Nelson chipped in nine.
* Edison 54, Odessa-Montour 36: The Spartans (6-7) jumped to a 16-point halftime lead and cruised to victory over the Indians (2-11). Megan Cook led the winners with 16 points, while Morgan Stermer had 13 for O-M.
* Dryden 53, Odessa-Montour 40: Dryden won five of 11 events and took the victory as Marcus Converse (200 IM), Joshua Miller (500 freestyle) and Andrew Bouchard (100 backstroke) all won individual events and swam on winning relays.
Tyler Goossen (50 free, 100 free) and Chris Husted (200 free, 100 butterfly) were double winners for the Indians.
