Dunphy scores six to lead Bulldogs

Junior Nicolette Dunphy scored four of her game-high six goals in the second half as the Rumson-Fair Haven girls lacrosse team defeated Manasquan, 13-4, in a Class A Central game on Monday.

With this win the Bulldogs (11-5, 10-0) swept the season series against the Warriors (7-6, 6-4) after winning 9-6 earlier in the season.

Rumson’s Bridget Curran finished with four goals and had one assist. Emily Knapp scored two goals, and Mary Scarrone had two assists.

Jojo Reilly, Amanda Hagaman, Shae Cowley, and Bridia Hegarty each scored one goal, and freshman goalie Megan Gianforte made nine saves for the Warriors.

OCEAN 18, LONG BRANCH 11: Gab Hagerman scored four goals in the second half to lead the Spartans (12-3, 10-1) past the Green Wave (2-14, 2-10) in a Class B North game.

Hagerman finished with six goals while McKayla Conti scored five goals and Jenna Gilman added four goals and three assists. Kim Davis scored five goals and Jacinta Santos had three goals for Long Branch.

BARNEGAT 10, TR EAST 8: Sophomore Hannah Fahringer scored three of her game-high four goals in the first half to lead the Bengals past the Raiders (7-5) in a nondivisional game.

Barnegat’s Nicole Federovitch finished with four goals. Bethany Cunningham and Christina SanGiacomo each chipped in one goal for the Bengals. Nicolette Faragalli and Brittany Hammel each scored two goals for the Raiders.

HOLMDEL 18, RANNEY 6: Chapin Taggart scored five goals and had two assists as the Hornets (4-10, 2-10) defeated the Panthers (1-11, 0-9) in a Class A Central game.

Lizzi Zelina scored three goals and had two assists for Holmdel. Ranney’s Skylar Bradley scored four goals and goalie Natalie Lombardi made 15 saves.

IN BOYS LACROSSE:

TR SOUTH 13, BARNEGAT 8: Robert Hailey had five goals and one assist and Matt Quinn had three goals as the Indians (3-8, 3-5) defeated the Bengals (7-6, 4-5) in a Class A South game. Barnegat’s Nick Anderson scored three goals, including the 100th goal of his career in the fourth quarter.

IN BOYS VOLLEYBALL:

COLTS NECK 2, MANCHESTER 1: The visiting Cougars (9-9) captured the third game 25-23 for a non-divisional win over the Hawks (6-8).

For the Cougars, Hongliang Zhan notched 12 kills, four blocks and five digs. Dan Clayman handed out 42 assists. Joe Schecter added 15 digs and three aces. Chris LoMauro contributed 11 kills. Tom O’Reilly had 13 kills, four blocks and four digs.

For Manchester, Doug DeSimone put up nine kills, two blocks, six digs and three aces. Blake Borsetti added 10 kills, five blocks and six digs.

WALL 2, LACEY 0: Ryan Donahue’s seven kills and five digs and Mike Smith’s 10 assists and two digs led the host Crimson Knights (13-3) past the Lions (3-10) in non-divisional play.

Also for Wall, Rick Wlazlowski added five kills and two digs, Max Nolan contributed three kills and two blocks, Gerard Dunn had four digs and two aces.

SJ VIANNEY 2, MONS. DONOVAN 0: Led by Dan Bruchez, George Hunkele and Tyler Dulemba, the visiting Lancers (11-6) downed the Griffins (5-10) in non-divisional action.

Bruchez had four kills, two digs and two blocks. Hunkele finished with two kills and Dulemba notched eight kills and three digs.

Jon O’Connor led the Griffins with five kills and six digs.

TR SOUTH 2, LONG BRANCH 0: Joe Esposito’s 20 assists and Trevor Signorino’s seven kills powered the visiting Indians (14-3) past the Green Wave (0-18) in non-divisional action.

Miguel Ocasio led the Green Wave with two kills and three blocks.
