Easley aims to keep streak against Daniel

Daniel had dominated its series against Easley — until the last three years.

The Green Wave haven’t won by much, but they have won the last three meetings heading into Friday’s game at Daniel.

Easley, 1-0 after its 30-14 victory against Pickens in its opener, has beaten Daniel by a combined total of 14 points the past three years.

Before that, the Lions had won 15 of 16 games against the Green Wave.

* Wren will travel to Woodmont in the season opener for both teams.

Last year, the Hurricanes defeated the Wildcats 52-21. It was Wren’s fourth straight victory over Woodmont, and it marked the third consecutive year the Hurricanes had scored at least 50 points against the Wildcats.

Wren has won nine of the past 10 meetings between the former Region 1-AAAA rivals. Woodmont has remained in the region; Wren has dropped down to Class AAA.

* Liberty travels to Travelers Rest, taking on a Devildogs team that has a win under its belt. TR rushed for 374 yards and defeated West-Oak 31-14 in Week 0.

Liberty beat TR 48-30 last season in the first meeting between the teams in 13 years.

* Pickens, coming off the loss to Easley, plays host to Pendleton. The Bulldogs beat the Blue Flame 56-14 last year, their second straight win over Pickens.

* Powdersville, still seeking its first victory at the varsity level, hosts Palmetto. The Patriots went 0-10 last year.

Palmetto, which beat Dixie 33-7 in Week 0, downed Powdersville 35-27 last year in the Patriots’ first varsity game.
