Alex Fuatavai, Delta
Fuatavai, a defensive back, demonstrated an ability to generate turnovers last season. He had a total of eight interceptions. He had two multiple-interception games, picking off two passes against Greenfield-Central and against Shelbyville.
Klay Fullenkamp, Delta
The linebacker serves as the leader of the Eagles’ defense. He led his team in tackles last season (122) and also had eight tackles for loss. He had his lone sack of the 2012 season against rival Yorktown.
Myron Howard, Yorktown
When the Yorktown defense was responsible for a negative-yardage play last season, chances are Howard was involved. He finished the year with eight sacks and 18 tackles for loss, and figures to be a key piece of the Tigers’ defense again this season.
Gatlin Kramer, Winchester
Kramer was an all-state defensive back in 2012 and was also Winchester’s leading tackler from the free safety position. He helped the Golden Falcons, who went 1-9 in 2011, improve to a 6-5 record last season.
Lane Young, Shenandoah
Young led the Raiders with 76 tackles last season. He also had a sack, two tackles for loss, an interception and a fumble recovery, both of which he returned for scores. He’s also a key player in Shenandoah’s offense, where he plays fullback.
