Eight area athletes advance to state after day one of D-II regionals

LEXINGTON

Bellevue’s Matt Rowland cleared 16 feet in the pole vault while Clyde’s Damien Coburn sailed 20-10.5 in the long jump as each captured a Division II regional title at Lexington on Thursday to advance to state.

The Fliers’ Ben Wollenslegel was second in the long jump to qualify to Columbus.

Michaela Fox, Mariah McPeak, Kylie Vogel and Ericka Hosang were third in the 4X800 relay to advance to state.

Clyde’s Paula Wollenslegel also advanced to state finishing third in the high jump. Kelly Wollenslegel, Tressa Eberly, Olivia Hammons and Paula Wollenslegel were eighth in 4X400 relay prelims to move to the finals.

Rowland was also second in 110 hurdle prelims while Wollenslegel was sixth to advance to Saturday’s finals.

Oak Harbor’s Allie Jett, Karis DeWalt, Sidney Allen and Andrea Cecil were third in 4X200 relay prelims to move on. Jett, Allie Dombrowsky, Allen and Rebekah Rayburn were seventh in 4X100 prelims to advance.

Clyde’s Collin Rieman was fourth in 400 prelims to move on.

Jalen Santoro, Kyle Norman, Dylan Fultz and Rowland were fifth in the 4X200 relay prelims to advance.

Bellevue’s Sarah Bedell was sixth in 300 hurdle prelims and seventh in 100 hurdle prelims to qualify to the finals. Margaretta’s Kasey Parkhurst was sixth in the 100 hurdles to move on.

Cecil, Jett, Dombrowsky and Athena Eli were seventh in 4X400 relay prelims to advance.

Clyde’s Logan Kiser was fifth in the girls shot put to miss Columbus by one spot.
