Fairview beat Lakewood 45-43 in a non-league game Saturday at Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood.
It was an emotional victory for the Knights who, as of Friday, still had 79 students displaced by the Front Range flooding.
Jonathan Swartzwelter hit a short field goal with 11 seconds remaining in the game to give the Knights the lead for good. This came after a late touchdown drive from Lakewood plus a two point conversion that gave the Tigers a 43-42 lead.
Fairview improves to 3-0 and will host Ralston Valley next week.
Lakewood fell to 1-3 and next up for the Tigers is a game against Chatfield.
