On a night when Lourdes Academy was celebrating its sixth annual Think Pink fundraiser, the Knights took to the court thinking something else.
Lourdes jumped out to a 19-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back in routing Princeton/Green Lake, 66-31, in a Trailways North girls basketball game at The Castle on Friday night.
“(The fast start) was extremely important,” Lourdes head coach Ali Fett said. “Especially with a packed gym and because they were playing for something bigger than themselves. They had to let the adrenaline subside a little bit and just play Lady Knights basketball.”
The Knights’ lead grew to 18 points by halftime before Lourdes outscored the Thundersharks 30-13 in the second half.
Maddy Reed scored 15 points to lead a balanced attack for the Knights, who had 10 different players score in the game.
Jamie Spanbauer chipped in a season-high 13 points.
“Jamie has worked really hard and stepped up as (Lauren Fischer) has been recovering,” Fett said. “She’s taken some good shots and made good decisions.”
Hailey Blazer finished with nine points to lead Princeton/Green Lake.
