LOCKPORT, N.Y.-Once again Lockport hosted one of the biggest scrimmages around the area Saturday. Six teams including the Lions participated in the scrimmage.
Coming off a 7-3 season last year the Lions want to take another step forward to the Section 6 championship game. Coach Greg Bronson knows there’s a tough road ahead but is excited for the challenge. “We would like to get a shot at playing for the Sectional Championship. It’s going to take us to step up on our preparation every week and our level of competitiveness.
One of the unique challenges facing Bronson is coaching his son senior quarterback Dan Bronson. “It’s unique and my second son at quarterback for me, so I’ve been through it before but it’s something that takes constant monitoring. You have to treat a player as a player and not a son.”
Dan Bronson also understands the difference between son and coach. He told channel 2 sports that, “we laugh and joke around at home. I’m just a player and a captain on the field and I can’t talk to him like I would at home.
Fathers and sons never see things completely the same way but you can bet the Bronsons have the same goals in my for their favorite football team.
