Field hockey: Arlington reaches semifinals with 2-0 victory

By

The third-seeded Arlington High School field hockey team defeated No. 6 Ursuline 2-0 on Thursday to advance to Saturday’s Section 1 Class A semifinals. The Admirals will travel to face No. 2 Scarsdale.

“It was an entire team effort,” Arlington coach Stephanie Tito said. “My defense shut down any possibility of an Ursuline attack.”
Senior captain Nichole Tolli got the Admirals on the board 22 minutes into the first half, while Ali Dahnert added a goal 17 minutes into the second half.
Ursuline coach Andrea Gaviria called Tolli “phenomenal,” noting she tried to shadow Tolli all game, but she was able to break free.
Dahnert’s goal came off a penalty corner taken by Mary McCutcheon, which deflected off Emily Kaminsky’s stick, and rolled to Dahnert, who put it in the back of the net.
Emily Zoltan had four saves in goal for the Admirals.
“She is the voice on the field,” Tito said. “She was directing everyone.”
