Nichole Tolli had a goal and four assists as the Arlington High School field hockey team celebrated its third annual Pink Game on Wednesday with a 6-0 win over Carmel in Freedom Plains.
“She’s definitely a force on the field,” Arlington coach Stephanie Tito said of Tolli.
Rachel Smoller and Lauren Fazio each scored twice for Arlington (8-3-1). Allison Hopper opened the scoring 44 seconds into the game. Emily Zoltan made six saves in goal for Arlington.
“It was a complete team effort,” Tito said. “Midfielders Melissa Barrera, Emily Kaminsky and Mary McCutcheon really helped control the ball for us and created a lot of opportunities for our forwards.”
Recognizing breast cancer awareness, the team raised almost $1,600 for the LaGrangeville-based Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation. Both teams sported pink jerseys.
“The support of the parents and the community was amazing,” Tito said. “It’s an amazing experience and a lot more than just wearing some pink ribbons.”
