Samantha Giordano scored the game winning goal off of a corner from teammate Emily Miller with 5:18 to go in overtime which helped the Bridgewater-Raritan High School field hockey team avenge an early season loss to Hunterdon Central, topping the Red Devils 3-2 in a Skyland Conference matchup on Thursday afternoon.
Trailing Hunterdon Central (8-2) 2-1 mid-way through the second half, the Panthers (9-1) got even when Miller tallied an unassisted goal with 10:44 to go in regulation before the eventual Giordano heroics.
Hunterdon Central held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 on the afternoon but were never able to expand on them. The Red Devils received goals from Kailey Dalgauer and Jane Higley.
South Plainfield 5, Piscataway 0: Jesse Bishop had two goals while Holly DeLair, Meghan Hughes and Brittany Titus all had one goal for South Plainfield. The Tigers improve to 11-1. Piscataway drops to 1-8-1.
Ridge 5, Hillsborough 3: Jenny Diehl had two goals and one assist while teammate Elizabeth Behrins had one goal and two assists for Ridge (6-4). Melissa Nobile scored all three Hillsborough (3-8) goals.
