Allison Hopper and Lauren Fazio each scored a goal as the third-seeded Arlington High School field hockey team blanked 14th-seeded Carmel 2-0 in Freedom Plains on Monday.
“Carmel did not play like a 14 seed. They played a very good game and made us work for the win,” Arlington coach Stephanie Tito said.
Hopper and Fazio received an assist on their goals from Nichole Tolli. Tito also credited midfielders Emily Kaminsky and Melissa Barrerra with strong play for Arlington (13-3-1).
“We were able to work as a team, connect on our passes and put pressure on Carmel,” Tito said.
Horace Greeley 2, Roy C. Ketcham 1 — Olivia Greer scored the game winner off a penalty corner in the second overtime for host and fifth seed Horace Greeley in the Section 1 Class A first-round match.
Mandi Walker netted a first-half goal to give the Indians a 1-0 lead, and Kara McConologue stopped 17 shots in goal.
Onteora 5, Rhinebeck 0 — Adriana Decicco scored four goals to doom the third-seeded Hawks in a Section 9 Class C semifinal at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton.
