Field hockey roundup: Monica Smith, Abigail Arsenault lift Pine Plains


Monica Smith had four goals and an assist, and Abigail Arsenault assisted on all but one of them as host Pine Plains beat the visiting Spackenkill High School field hockey team, 6-0, to improve to 4-1 on Wednesday.

“It was beautiful,” Pine Plains coach Debbie Beam said. “We had strong midfield play and Abigail just sent it over to Monica. It was really nice, especially on the corners. We had a lot of time to work the ball and get the great shot.”

Rachel Beam also scored for Pine Plains, which hosts Ichabod Crane at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.

Katie Murray made 17 saves for Spackenkill (2-4).

Rhinebeck 3, Ellenville 0 — Briana Santo scored three straight goals in the second half to lift the host Hawks.

“Our girls have shown such improvement since the beginning of the season,” Rhinebeck coach Mary Fleischhauer said.

Kiley Quackenbush made four saves for Rhinebeck (2-6), which visits Spackenkill at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.

Pawling 5, Our Lady of Lourdes 0 — Amber Cody scored twice, and Lana Felice, Annie Reid and Katie Reynolds each had one goal for host Pawling.

Catie Dickinson stopped 11 shots in goal for the Tigers (3-4, 3-0), who play Friday at Brewster.

Arlington 5, Yorktown 0 — Nichole Tolli scored a hat trick as the visiting Admirals improved to 3-1 with a win.

Lauren Fazio and Ali Dahnert also scored for Arlington.

Arlington hosts John Jay-Cross River at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Somers 4, Roy C. Ketcham 1 — Casey Herzog scored the Indians’ lone tally in the second half, on an assist from Sarah Gemmell as Ketcham (1-3-1) lost on the road.

Ketcham visits Yorktown at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Lakeland 6, John Jay 0 – Jolei Buonanno had 11 saves in a road loss for the Patriots (2-2-2).

Rondout Valley 7, Webutuck 0 — Makaylah Mutz scored three goals for visiting Rondout Valley in the MHAL match.

Sophia Tomasetti and Linda Aldana combined for 11 saves to pace Webutuck (2-3).

Kingston 5, Red Hook 0 — Claire Loughran finished with three goals and two assists for host Kingston in the MHAL match.

Alex Theisen made 20 saves for Red Hook (3-3).
