Five storylines of the week

1. Cunningham, Gaels eyeing big win.

The last time Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) quarterback Randall Cunningham Jr. played on TV he lost the season opener to Mountain Pointe (Phoenix) by a touchdown. Now the Gaels face the ultimate foe in Booker T. Washington (Miami), the top team in the USA Today HSS Super 25, Friday on ESPNU.

Bishop Gorman hasn’t lost since the first game, but do they really have what it takes to dethrone the top dog?

2. Lyles close to a decision?

Arsenal Tech (Indianapolis) forward Trey Lyles tweeted last week that he was down to Louisville and Kentucky.

Most don’t expect Lyles, who is ranked No. 4 in the ESPN 100, to wait much longer to decide; is this the week he reveals where he’s headed?

3. Vaughn cooling on UNC?

Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.) shooting guard Rashad Vaughn made major headlines last week when he cancelled his official visit to North Carolina.

He maintained that he’d reschedule during the season, but some see this as a sign of disinterest.

4. MLK teammates mulling options.

Martin Luther King Jr. (Lithonia, Ga.) teammates Wesley Green, a cornerback, and defensive end Arden Key both decommitted from South Carolina last week.

Who will swoop in and make the Gamecocks’ loss their gain?

5. Moses commitment affects?

Fifteen-year-old University Lab (Baton Rouge, La.) freshman running back/linebacker Dylan Moses shocked everyone last week when he committed to LSU, fulfilling what he said was a childhood dream.

How will this affect the Tigers’ recruiting efforts in the coming weeks? Does it make them more attractive?
