Folsom High QB receives national honor

SACRAMENTO – Folsom High School quarterback Jake Browning was been selected aGatorade Player of the Year in California Football.

Browning, a junior, led his team to a 13-0 record going into the Division I CIF Sac-Joaquin Section state championship game against Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills) Saturday, Dec. 7.

Browning threw for 5,093 yards and 69 touchdowns on 378-of-489 passing, throwing just 13 interceptions through 13 games. His 69 touchdowns were a single-season state record.

He has a 3.64 GPA and has been a volunteer peer tutor and youth football coach.

The Gatorade award is based on athletic and academic performance, community involvement and personal character.
