The season came to an end for the Fond du Lac girls swim team Saturday as the Cardinals competed in a WIAA Division 1 Sectional at Neenah, where they placed eighth out of 15 teams.
Highlighting the day for Fond du Lac were senior McKayla Drew and junior Courtney Stubbe. Drew was eighth in the 500-yard freestyle and ninth in the 200 free, while Stubbe was seventh in the 50 free and ninth in the 100 free.
Fond du Lac’s top showing was in the 400 free relay, as the team of Kalli Behling, Taryn Jaroch, Drew and Stubbe placed fifth and shaved more than five seconds off its season-best time.
Senior Jensen Bloedorn ended her prep swimming tenure with a career-best time in the 100 breaststroke while placing 23rd, while freshman Maddie Corbin was seventh in diving.
Fondy’s 200 medley relay was 12th, while the 200 free relay was ninth. All three relays outperformed their seed times.
The Cardinals had 134 points, far outdoing the 57 they posted at sectionals last year.
