Fondy tennis shuts out Kaukauna


The Fond du Lac tennis team picked up its first win of the season Tuesday, shutting out Kaukauna 7-0 in a dual match at home.

No. 1 singles player Maddie Bahr got things started off for Fondy, defeating Amanda Kawula in a close three game set. She lost the first 6-4 game, but then bounced back with 6-2 and 10-7 wins. Grace Kisch defeated Jennifer Zillmer at the two spot, winning 7-5 and taking the second set by default.

At No. 3 singles, the Cardinals’ Elizabeth Bowy topped Rachel Roth 6-3, 6-2, while Toni Winkler defeated Mackenzie Judd 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4.

In doubles play, Alex Burns and Kelli Cole won in three sets, taking the first 6-4 6-4, falling 6-2 in the second and then won close 6-4 in the final set. At No. 2, Annie Hierl/Hannah Grahl won easily 6-2, 6-0, and Jenny Garrison/Kendalynn Acheson took No. 4 with a pair of 6-3 sets.
