Fond du Lac senior Taylor Penning earned honorable mention all-state honors from the Associated Press when the all-state teams were released late Wednesday night.
Penning was a first-team all-Fox Valley Association selection as well as being chosen to the league’s all-defensive team. She averaged nearly a double-double for the season, finishing the year scoring 11.3 points per game while grabbing 9.5 rebounds.
She scored a season-high 20 points against Appleton North early in the season and reached double figures in 16 of the Cardinals’ 23 games.
Penning was one of three FVA players on the all-state honorable mention list joining Kimberly sophomore Frankie Wurtz and Appleton North junior Mackenzie Greisch.
Divine Savior Holy Angels sophomore Arike Ogunbowale was named the state Player of the Year and was joined on the first team by junior Mackenzie Latt of Sussex Hamilton, junior Jessica Lindstrom of Superior, junior Gabrielle Ortiz of Racine Prairie and senior Samantha Terry of Baraboo.
Green Bay Notre Dame’s Sara Rohde was named Coach of the Year.
