Chatfield beat Arapahoe 48-46 in a Super 6 league game Friday at Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood.
The Warriors appeared to have the game won when Gabe Peterson hit Ethan Brunhofer for a touchdown with 1:45 to play. Arapahoe had a 48-42 lead at that point.
The Chargers drove the field and had the ball on the Warriors 20 with two seconds to play. Kyle Winkler took the snap and had to step up in the pocket and avoid pressure. After rolling to his left Winkler tossed a pass to Michael Callahan-Harris who was open at the two yard line. Harris fell in to the end zone the Chargers had a 48-46, buzzer beating win.
Arapahoe was trying to clinch the Super 6 conference, but needed a victory to do it. With their loss, Columbine ends up as the league champion.
The Warriors finish the season (6-3, 3-2) and qualify for the 5A playoffs.
The Chargers finish the season (7-2, 3-2) and qualify for the 5A playoffs.
