Midnight Madness isn’t just a basketball thing anymore. Last night, the West Johnston (Benson, N.C.) football team counted down the minutes to midnight before running onto the field amid a haze of white smoke and holding its first full practice of the season. HighSchoolOT.com has the full story.
The Wildcats, who finished 3-7 last season, practiced for 90 minutes. They didn’t let a driving rain deny them the chance to get on the field together at the earliest possible time.

“We’re starting some new traditions and trying to create a culture of winning,” West Johnston coach Jimmy Williams said. “It was important to the team to do something different.”
By all accounts, the event was a success.
“It’s great being out here with them,” said West Johnston tight end Josh Banfalvy. “We’re coming together and I love the atmosphere that Coach Williams is bringing to the team.”
West Johnston wasn’t the only school to host a Midnight Madness event last night.
