Logan Hartsock threw a one-hit shutout and struck out 14 to lift Eagleville’s baseball team to a 1-0 victory over Moore County in the District 9-A tournament on Friday.

The Eagles had just two hits — one each from Darin Knox and Chris Tompkins. Tyler Vandagriff drove in the game’s only run. Eagleville faces top seed MTCS today at 3:30 pm. at MTCS.

MTCS 18, Fayetteville City 0

Philip Bonabi (6-0) struck out four and gave up one hit for the Cougars (22-7-1).

Justin Winn was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and a grand slam for his first homer of the season. He had five RBIs. Lucas Smith went 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Kyle Howard was 3-for-3 with three runs scored.

Bonabi was 2-for-2 with three runs scored. Caleb Gibson was 2-for-3 with a double. Austin Melton was 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

Cannon Co. 3, Smith Co. 2

Chase Gunner capped off a three-run rally in the seventh with a two RBI-single after Jake Todd drove in a run to make it 2-1. Dalton Bell picked up the win, and Graden Strang recorded the save.

Oakland 1, Central Magnet 0

Patrick Wright scored the game’s only goal on a penalty kick.

Middle School Baseball

Stewarts Creek 10, Central 8

John Braxton Brewer picked up the win, throwing three innings in relief , and Gresham Mosley recorded the last out to get the save in the Middle School Sectional tournament.

The Falcons were led offensively by Daniel Freeman, who went 3-for-4. Corey Perkins, Jonathan Pelleaux, John Turner and Lucas Dale each added a hit.

Stewart’s Creek boys, Oakland girls win titles

Stewarts Creeks boys and Oakland’s girls won the Middle School District tournament at Champions run.

In boys play, Siegel was second, Oakland was third and all teams advance to next week’s Regional tournament.

Stewarts Creek’s Shelden Barina (73) was low medalist, followed by Siegel’s Kyle Hanna (79) and Stewarts Creek’s Branson Beech (84). Christiana’s Garrison Benner (93) and Blackman’s Greg Jenkins (96) advanced individually.

In girls play, Oakland shot 89 and Rockvale carded 95. Oakland’s Emma Tenpenny was low medalist with a 38, and Rockvale’s Mary Tod Newberry shot 41. Christiana’s Caitlin Davis also advanced with a 48, as did Whitworth-Buchanan’s Caitlin Davis (51).
