THE WINNER: Noah Gade

THE BASICS

School: Stillwater (Okla.)
Grade: Senior
Height: 5-foot-11

Athletic achievement: He raced to the Class 6A individual state championship this past season with a time of 15:30.84, leading the Pioneers to a 10th place as a team. Gade was the top Oklahoma finisher at the 2012 Foot Locker South Region championships, placing eighth in 15:03, becoming the first Oklahoma runner to qualify for the national Foot Locker Cross Country Championships since 1996. He finished 36th in country at nationals.

Academic excellence: Gade has maintained a 4.0 GPA in the classroom.

Exemplary character: A National Merit Scholar semifinalist, he has volunteered locally as a mentor to both an elementary school student and a Special Olympics participant. He has also donated his time as part of a community beautification project.

THE PRAISE

“Noah stands alone at the top,” said Laura Clay, head coach at Westmoore (Oklahoma City, Okla.). “He is a great runner and very deserving.”

THE FUTURE: Gade has verbally committed to an athletic scholarship at Oklahoma State University beginning this fall.
