Georgia high school basketball standout dies after game

LITHONIA, Ga. — A standout basketball player at Miller Grove High School in DeKalb County has died.

Terrell Coleman passed away Sunday afternoon. DeKalb County Schools spokesman Quinn Hudson said the teen died after a game at the Action Sports Academy on Memorial Drive.

The school tweeted early Monday, "MGHS lost an Angel today: Terrell Coleman. Condolences to the Coleman family & MGBB..may God comfort their mind and soothe their hearts."

The Miller Grove freshman known as "Too Tall" Coleman also played for the Atlanta Celtics, a youth team for students interested in playing basketball in college.

Grief counselors will be available Monday for Miller Grove students.

According to Coleman's coach with the Celtics, Chris Anderson, Coleman had played in an all star game at Action Sports Academy, before coming out of the game. About five minutes later, Anderson said, Coleman passed out and began convulsing on the sidelines.

Coleman was being watched by several large college programs from across the nation.

Monday was the first practice of the season for Miller Grove. Despite Coleman's death, members of the team decided to practice anyway, saying that would have been what Coleman would have wanted.
