ELMORE Woodmore held their own for most of the game with Northern Buckeye Conference leader Elmwood before the Royals converted their free throws down the stretch to stay unbeaten (12-0, 6-0).

Leah Bench had seven of her team-high 11 points in the opening quarter propelling the Wildcats to a 15-10 advantage after one quarter. Elmwood came back to even the score at 22 at the break and took a slim one-point lead, 32-31, into the final quarter.

The Royals held a 38-34 lead at the 5:20 mark of the fourth quarter, but Woodmore (7-7, 4-3) closed to within 42-39 at the 3:52 mark after a three-point play by Allie Wank and a steal and lay up by Mackenzie Johnson. Elmwood made all 10 free throws resulting from Woodmore’s intentional fouling strategy.

Johnson and Wank both scored 10 points for the Wildcats.
