Dunellen 1, South River 0: Freshman Alyssa Zarzula snapped a scoreless tie in the 74th minute and it proved the game winner as the Dunellen High School girls soccer team edged South River 1-0 Monday. Jaime Deene posted an assist for the Destroyers (2-5), who got 11 saves from Casey Olsommer. Breona Hill made 10 saves for the Rams (3-5-1).
East Brunswick 2, Peddie 0: Kaitlin Roughan scored a first half goal and Katrina Nguyen-Demary added a second-half tally to pace East Brunswick. Bears goalkeeper Alex Kalafor needed just two stops for the shutout.
Metuchen 2, Mother Seton 0: Katherine Chura and Ariana SantoPietro notched goals and Emily Buchanan made seven saves to send Metuchen (10-0). Shanna McCarthy stopped nine shots for the Setters (3-6).
South Plainfield 4, Colonia 0: Katelyn Gray scored two goals and Claire Nagel tallied a goal and three assists to power South Plainfield (3-4-1). Caity Hughes also hit for the Tigers, while Sydni Suroweic made four saves for the shutout. Juli Wright stopped six shots for Colonia (3-5).
Timothy Christian 6, South Amboy 0: Sabrina Solorzano netted four goals and Sarah Solorzano distributed four assists to lead Timothy Christian. Hannah Russo and Jenna Collier also scored for the Tigers (6-3), while Rebekah Aviles posted three saves for the shutout and even added an assist. South Amboy fell to 0-8.
Wardlaw-Hartridge 6, J.F. Kennedy 0: Taylor Gerhart netted a hat trick and Neema Liverpool and Alex Garces each contributed a goal and two assists to send Wardlaw-Hartridge (5-3). Mairead Forrest added a goal and an assist for the Rams.
Spotswood 6, New Brusnwick 0: Alexandra Coughlan posted two assists as six different scorers hit for Spotswood (6-1-1). Lisa Milburn tallied two saves for the shutout, while Altagracia Diaz stopped eight shots for New Brunswick (0-8).
Somerset Tech 7, Noor-Ul-Iman 0: Sophomore Harleen Singh turned in a hat trick and Emily Wasik dished out two assists for Somerset Tech. Julia Heller, Ariel Conner, Kacie Sconda and Amanda Mendez also hit for the Runnin’ Jags (7-4).
