Girls soccer roundup: Spackenkill deals Ellenville a shutout


Spackenkill High School’s girls soccer team scored a goal in each half to defeat host Ellenville 2-0 on Monday in Mid-Hudson Athletic League play at Leipold Field.

Eileen Fiore’s one-timer of a cross from Aislinn Speranza in the 28th minute of the first half gave the Spartans a lead. An errant Ellenville pass ended up in the Blue Devils’ goal for an own goal in the 20th minute of the second half.

Meghan Pantano made two saves for Spackenkill (7-0-1 overall).

Millbrook 1, Pine Plains 0 — Elizabeth Rolleri scored with an assist from Jazzelle Colley to lift host Millbrook to a MHAL win.

Aimee Jacques stopped five shotsfor the Blazers (4-3-1).

Gianna Tuccillo made 16 saves for Pine Plains.

New Paltz 5, Rondout Valley 0 — Cerissa Divalentino had two goals, and Jenna Moranski and Honour Butler each added a goal and an assist for the host Huguenots.

Kate Demskie also scored for New Paltz (6-3), which received three saves from Mikayla Cochrane.

Marlboro 6, Franklin D. Roosevelt 0 — Andrea Schoonmaker had four goals to help the Iron Dukes to a MHAL road win in Hyde Park.

Haley Drake had two goals and an assist for Marlboro (3-4). Michelle Nowak made four saves.

For Roosevelt (1-6), Lindsay Trachtenberg made seven saves.

Beacon 5, Brewster 0 — Noriana Radwan had a natural hat trick in the second half and added an assist as the visiting Bulldogs picked up a shutout win.

Caitlin Sheehan and Erica Blair also scored for Beacon (3-5). Mary Hernandez made five saves for Beacon to pick up her second straight shutout.

“The whole team just really stepped it up,” Beacon coach Jeff Matus said. “We had great passes and really good through balls.”

John Jay 4, John Jay-Cross River 2 — Nicole Covallo, Corinne Burns, Erin Theiller and Robin Seward each had a goal for host John Jay.

Brianna Durland stopped five shots in goal for the Patriots (6-4).

Haldane 4, Putnam Valley 0 — Jessica Harrison finished with two goals and an assist for visiting Haldane (7-1-1).

Bailey McCollum added a goal and assist, and Sarah Warren had a goal for the Blue Devils.

John A. Coleman Catholic 1, Webutuck 0 — Allie Steen had 10 saves for host Webutuck in the MHAL match.

Onteora 3, Dover 0 — Julianna Browne made 15 saves for the visiting Dragons (3-4) in the MHAL defeat.

Katie Klercker, Kaitlyn King and Jemimah Cochrane scored for Onteora (6-2-0).

Wallkill 2, Highland 0 — Kara Benicase made 21 saves, but the visiting Huskies (2-4-1) lost in overtime.

Highland hosts Franklin D. Roosevelt at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Saugerties 5, Red Hook 0 — Shayne Esposito made six saves and Shelby Wilcox made seven, but the visiting Raiders (5-2-2) were shut out by the Sawyers.

Red Hook hosts Wallkill at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
