The Spackenkill High School girls soccer team closed the regular season on Thursday with a 4-0 win over visiting Millbrook, and the Spartans are ready for postseason play, coach Mike Corbett said.
“My girls have been playing well and (Thursday), we finished,” Corbett said.
Spackenkill (13-0-1), the Mid-Hudson Athletic League Division 3 champion, will face Division 4 champion Rhinebeck in an MHAL semifinal on Monday at 7 p.m. at Marlboro High School. Division 1 champion Saugerties will face either Marlboro or Red Hook in the other semifinal. In their only meeting of the season, Spackenkill defeated the Hawks 3-1 on Wednesday.
On Thursday, Gabby Prichard scored twice, while Eileen Fiore and Aislinn Speranza scored in the first half off Morgan Dominick corner kicks. Julianna Neves had three assists. Goalkeeper Meghan Pantano made three saves.
“Neves is my stopper and really a defensive player, but she controls the middle of the field and is one of my dominant seniors,” Corbett said. “We lost seven seniors, but her, Pantano in goal and Aislinn Speranza have been huge for us.”
Of Pantano, the shortstop for the softball team, Corbett said, “She can dive, flat-out, for things. It’s like she’s going for a line drive.”
Aimee Jacques made 12 saves for Millbrook (6-6-1).
