From 2009-2011 Grainger won a total of just seven games, but last season the Grizzlies snuck into the playoffs after a four-win campaign. First year head coach Chad Tate wants to take the program to the next level.
“I’ve been an assistant for 12 seasons, so I know the roster, I know the facilities,” said Tate. “It’s really just trying to get the kids to buy into my way of wanting things done. we’ve got a motto, win the day. It’s a day-to-to-day process, trying to bring a little bit of excitement about football at Grainger High School.”
It helps to have a veteran quarterback. Senior Lance Morton will start under center for the fourth season.
“I feel pretty comfortable, we have struggled in the past few years, but I think we’re getting on the right track. We’re just trying to pave the way for the guys coming after us, this year I think we could go pretty far,” said Morton.
