Greer-based 12-and-under tennis team captures title

The Greer-based Riverside Aces won the 12-and-under advanced division at the 2013 USTA South Carolina Junior Team Tennis Championships July 19-21 at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center.

The event involved more than 200 participants and 30 teams. With their victory, the Aces are eligible to compete in the USTA Southern Section championships Friday through Sunday in Auburn, Ala.

Team members are Timothy Pitts, Sebastian Kamieniecki, Brolin Dorsey, Christopher Johns, Day Nuckolls, Taylor Roberts, Abigail Bragg and Annabelle Kleinfeldt.

The team is coached by Heike Kamieniecki and Jennifer Pitts.

Junior Team Tennis teams play boys singles, girls singles, boys doubles, girls doubles and mixed doubles in each match.

The multi-week program consists of team practice and match play for boys and girls ages 6-18. Teams compete against each other in local leagues in one of five league divisions: 8-and-under, 10-and-under, 12-and-under, 14-and-under and 18-and-under.
