The Spackenkill High School boys basketball team received 25 points from Justin Etts to clinch the Mid-Hudson Athletic League Division III championship with a 73-63 triumph over host Ellenville on Thursday.
“It was a great high school game,” Spackenkill coach Terry Feeley said. “We just made a few more plays down the stretch and Etts made a few free throws to secure things for us.”
Etts finished 14 for 15 from the foul line.
Marc Horvath contributed 16 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Spartans (11-3). Randy Strom added 13 points and 11 rebounds and Alex Strom anchored the defense.
Spackenkill will play Pine Plains at 7 p.m. Monday at SUNY Ulster in a MHAL tournament semifinal.
Rhinebeck 66, Onteora 49 — Paul Henke scored 14 points as the host Hawks (5-11) prevailed.
Nick Hoynes added 13 points for Rhinebeck, while Josh Hanaburgh contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.
Rhinebeck hosts Highland at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
Millbrook 52, Wallkill 47 — Justin Simmons scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the visiting Blazers topped the Panthers.
Devon Jackson contributed 12 points for Millbrook (6-8). Chris Camaj had seven points, rebounds and two steals. Henry Cardinal added four points and nine rebounds.
Oakwood Friends 45, Poughkeepsie Day School 23 — Deionte Davis scored 23 points and Tony Zou added seven as host Oakwood won the Hudson Valley Athletic League game to complete the regular season with a record of 14-5, 8-4.
Tehron Durr grabbed 15 rebounds for Oakwood, which will host a HVAL playoff game on Tuesday.
Chapel Field 86, Webutuck 55 — Elias Oquendo had a game-high 34 points as visiting Chapel Field prevailed.
Ashley Merritt had a game-high 15 points and Brittany Wilson added 10 as the visiting Presidents (12-3) picked up the win.
Mikayla Cochrane and Lea Jones had 11 points each for New Paltz (0-12).
