Nick Lynch knocked in brother Nate Lynch on a sixth-inning sacrifice fly, the go-ahead run in Lamoille’s 2-1 high school baseball win over Oxbow in the teams’ season opener Monday.
Nate Lynch, who advanced to scoring position in the sixth by stealing second and moving to third on a groundout, finished with two hits. Starter Nick Lynch and relief pitcher Riley Fitzgerald combined on a one-hitter, with Fitzgerald earning the win.
Oxbow’s Justin Bryce doubled and Andrew Lyman took the complete-game loss, allowing six hits and one walk.
* Enosburg 13 Lake Region 4: Winning pitcher Cam Caforia had a hit and scored three runs as visiting Enosburg defeated Lake Region.
Caforia struck out five and walked four in four innings of work while Colby Greenia picked up two hits for Enosburg, which finished with 11 walks and seven hits.
Lake Region’s Matt Messier totaled three singles and three RBIs and Sam Barbeau’s two hits included a double and an RBI.
* Enosburg 5, Lake Region 4: Enosburg plated two runs in the fifth inning to take a lead it never relinquished in the win at Lake Region.
McKenzie Gleason, who went 2-for-4, keyed the rally with a double, while Emily Bose tossed a four-hitter in the complete-game win for the Hornets (3-0).
Hannah Leroux smacked a two-run double and losing pitcher Kayla Royer allowed six hits and one earned run in the complete-game effort for the Rangers (1-1).
* Oxbow 14, Randolph 8: Emily Speck scored four goals, Mikalya Hodge supplied three goals, and Oxbow earned a win at Randolph.
Dilan Clements tallied twice and Amber Strock, Jasmine Clark and Drew Pierson also had goals for Oxbow.
Ellie Anderson tallied a hat trick and Zoe Listro had two goals to lead Randolph. Emma Renner, Tessa Duval and Brittney Malik added single tallies, with Brooke Greenway turning away 10 shots.
Savannah Fay posted 14 saves for Oxbow.
